Our Mission

As a not-for-profit gift shop, the mission of Between Friends Gift Shops is to offer a distinctive and ever-changing inventory for any occasion, inspiring our patrons and raising money for the Springfield-Greene County Library District in southwest Missouri. All items are tax free and all proceeds directly benefit the Library's many services, programs and events. Please stop in at one of the district's 10 library branches or visit the Library website to learn more about its many programs and services.

Our History

With the generous help of Friends of the Library, the first Between Friends Gift Shop was founded in 1999 when the Library Center opened on South Campbell Avenue. Early on, the gift shop offered only a small selection of greeting cards, bookmarks, and other book-themed products, but over the years has grown to include a more diverse collection of unique gifts and seasonal decor.

In 2003, Between Friends opened a second location at the Library Station on North Kansas Expressway, with a limited selection of our larger inventory.  In 2011 we launched an online gift shop where patrons from all over the country can purchase exclusive Library merchandise and unique book-themed gifts, including original designs by Ozarks artists.
